Spike O’Neill: Super Bowl LX costs more to attend than last two Seahawks Super Bowls combined

Jan 27, 2026, 9:16 AM

The region is buzzing with Seahawks excitement as the team is less than two weeks away from Super Bowl LX, taking on the AFC Champion New England Patriots. Washington residents are now making plans for the Super Bowl, with some even preparing to travel to Santa Clara to attend the largest sporting and television event in America.

But KIRO host Spike O’Neill will not be among those in attendance, citing that the price for the Super Bowl has reached an insurmountable level.

“This game in Santa Clara, it’s going to be nuts. A lot of money,” Spike said on “The Jake and Spike Show.” “The NFC Championship was the most expensive NFC Championship game in history, given the fact that the aftermarket and how people consume and purchase tickets in the consumer-driven marketplace, the bidders come from all over, and the auctions are in real time on multiple levels. It’s nuts.”

Spike previously attended the last two Super Bowls the Seattle Seahawks were a part of — Super Bowl XLVIII in New York and Super Bowl XLIX in Phoenix.

“I spent less to go to two Super Bowls, including travel expenses, than what one ticket for Super Bowl LX would cost me,” Spike said. “Would I love to be part of it? Of course.”

“Do you think that the aftermarket, and it’s unavoidable, it’s a part of life, it’s how tickets are sold, is it good for the fans?” co-host Jake Skorheim asked.

“No,” Spike quickly answered. “Not in any way, shape, or form.”
