‘Rules are rules’: Spike defends towing of 55 cars during Seahawks Super Bowl parade
Feb 14, 2026, 5:00 AM
While many parade-goers were celebrating the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win in downtown Seattle, many of their cars were being towed miles away in Lynnwood for illegally parking at local businesses.
Jake Skorheim and Spike O’Neill, co-hosts of “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio, agreed with a property manager’s tough decision to tow 55 cars during the parade, citing that “rules are rules” and if someone stole their spot, they’d view it as a violation.
“[Officials] were encouraging people to take Sound Transit to the parade and get themselves on a light rail or a bus somewhere. So a lot of people did that,” Jake said. “Sadly though, they were parking their cars because they were so busy at these stations, they were parking their cars in places they should not have been.”
Jake, Spike push back on claims that towing was ‘unfair’
A person whose car was towed while they were at the parade said it was “unfair” to return from a citywide celebration to find it was no longer there.
“I disagree with it being unfair. I mean, if you’re parking in an illegal spot, you’re taking advantage of someone else,” Jake said.
“I know it’s inconvenient, but rules are rules. Laws are laws,” Spike responded. “It happened in my station in North Shoreline, too. Cars were getting towed because there was a small lot there that was full before 7:30 in the morning.”
