Sam Darnold deserves grace. Seahawks fans, don’t forget what he just did for us.
Are we REALLY doing this again, Seahawks fans? Are we REALLY ready to turn on Sam Darnold after a couple of bad games? Come on now!
Sam Darnold just helped bring a Super Bowl championship to Seattle.
Not five years ago. Not 10 years ago. Just last season.
So because he’s struggling, I’m hearing people question whether he’s the guy?
Sam Darnold deserves accountability, not abandonment
I’m not going to sit here and defend the turnovers. I’m not going to pretend some of these decisions haven’t been frustrating. I’m mad, you’re mad, and he’s mad.
Sam Darnold deserves criticism when he doesn’t play well, but there’s a BIG difference between holding somebody accountable and giving up on them. I think some Seahawks fans are starting to confuse the two.
We spent years wanting another Super Bowl. Years talking about what it would take to get back to the top of the NFL, then we finally get there, win it all, and a few bad performances later, some people are ready to throw the quarterback away?
We love talking about loyalty when somebody’s winning. We love talking about believing in people when everything is going right, but the real test of belief is what happens when somebody struggles. That’s when you find out whether you actually believe in somebody or whether you just believe in their results.
Grace does not mean a free pass.
Sam Darnold has to protect the football. Period. He has to make better decisions. He has to understand that with a defense this talented, sometimes the best play is simply NOT making the mistake that loses the game.
That’s accountability. Calling for his replacement? Acting like he suddenly forgot how to play quarterback? That’s an overreaction.
