‘It would be unfair’: Gee, Ursula support girls’ sports initiative

Jan 11, 2026, 5:00 AM

Two citizen-driven initiatives in Washington have cleared a major hurdle by filing enough signatures to move forward and potentially head to the ballot later this year. If lawmakers don’t pass either initiative, they would both go before voters in November.

The first initiative would expand parental rights in schools, to codify what information schools have to share with moms and dads, and what decisions parents can make about the children’s public school experience.

The second initiative would bar students who are biologically male from playing on girls’ sports teams, requiring medical verification if they wanted to participate.

Gee Scott, co-host of “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, shared that he supports both initiatives, believing that it isn’t fair to have biological males compete against girls in high school athletics.

“Y’all are going to be mad at me, but I agree with this Go Washington initiative. I agree with both parts of it,” Gee said. “If I have a child in school who is not 18 years old, I want to know everything that goes on. Do I think it’s fair for there to be a basketball game, and a boy is to come and get on that team and play against those girls out there? No, I don’t. I’m done, I don’t want to debate it anymore.”

Co-host Ursula Reutin mentioned her concerns that the topic is being used as an excuse to target the trans community, though she is in support of the initiative.

“This discussion about biological males playing on girls’ school sports teams has been used in many cases, not all, as a way to bash the trans community,” Ursula said. “While I also believe that I would agree with this initiative, and I think that there are only, like, five to 10 students that we’re talking about, I do worry about them, unfortunately, being targeted, but I also think that it would be unfair to have someone who biologically has all the advantages to compete against girls.”
