With Christmas right around the corner, Washingtonians are packing holiday markets, light displays, and other seasonal attractions.
KIRO host Ursula Reutin highlighted some of her favorite local Christmas attractions, starting with Leavenworth.
“It is a great tradition, especially around Christmas time,” she said on “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio.
The town’s Bavarian theme might strike some as kitschy, but Ursula said her dad, who is Bavarian, liked it.
“It’s just, it’s kind of sweet,” she said.
Next was Snowflake Lane in Bellevue, which Ursula saw as the perfect stop after some holiday shopping.
“If you enjoy parades and just seeing kids smile, and fake snow, you can see the people in the stilts, the princesses, the festive floats, it’s all of it. If you feel good when you watch a parade, you’ll love Snowflake Lane,” she said.
Ursula also recommended the Tulalip lights display.
“I can’t even remember how many lights they have, but it is pretty darn spectacular,” she said.
As for the Seattle Christmas Market at the Seattle Center, Ursula cautioned it won’t quite measure up if you’re expecting a European experience.
“I’ve been to the one in Berlin, which is incredible. If you’ve been there, you know what an amazing experience that is. Now, if you go there expecting that, you’re going to be wildly disappointed,” she said. “But this is a German-themed outdoor market. There is an entrance fee.”
