Northwest design firm Ideabox worked with Portland IKEA designers to come up with a 745 square foot house full of IKEA built designs that can be purchased for $86,500.
97.3 KIRO FM host Dave Ross said the design reminds him of a mobile home without wheels.
“I think it’s a little more stylish than that,” said co-host Luke Burbank. “But it does have that kind of squat rectangular thing going on.”

“Can an entire house actually be built using wordless cartoon instructions?” asked Ross.
Burbank said he’s learned a tried and true first step for starting any IKEA assembly project.
“Follow my buddy Cotter’s advice, which is the first step of anything from IKEA is open a beer. It will make everything else slightly more bearable.”
Fortunately, the Ideabox home comes already assembled.
“For those of us IKEA fans, the pure delight of walking and imagining our way through an IKEA store quickly turns to the daunting task of assembly when we get home. Not a worry…When your ideabox aktiv arrives, all of the cabinets, countertops, and flooring are installed,” says the home description at Ideabox.
