Ask Dave & Luke: Can you sing the National Anthem better than Harper Gruzins?

Luke listened to Harper Gruzins’ version of the National
Anthem and passed many judgments. The 11-year-old sang at
a FC Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy game on Saturday and
seemed pretty proud of herself.
She was the only one who enjoyed it, which prompted a
challenge from the Ross and Burbank Show: Sing your best
National Anthem for us and win a pair of tickets to the
Sounders FC vs. LA Galaxy match on Sunday at CenturyLink.
Daily winners will be entered in the grand prize drawing
on Friday to win an on-field tour before the match.

If you ever need a “fill-in” Nemesis let John Curley know.
Also, the word is the 11-year-old signing the National
Anthem thought she was going to “auto-tuned”..aka GLEE
style.
Luke: “That’s a common misconception, Al. For the young
people of America, they just assume that as they sing
something it’ll be both auto-tuned and tweeted at the same
time.”

The slow anthems drive me nuts. The tempo would cause
Francis Scott Key to roll over in his grave, except that
he wouldn’t because the song is sung so slow he’d fall
asleep in mid-roll.
Ever since 9-11, everyone seems to think they can sing it
more meaningful than the prior person. “Meaningful” =
“Slower.” Give me Faith Hill from the Super Bowl every
time.
