Equinophobia? Dave and Luke share their deepest fears

You’d figure a big time NFL player wouldn’t be afraid of anything. But tell that to Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Pro Bowl defensive back is getting plenty of grief for his fear of horses.

Ross and Burbank were amused by a video making the rounds this week, showing Berry getting freaked out about the Chiefs mascot “Warpaint,” a horse that’s trotted around the field for years as part of the team’s festivities.

“Oh hell no, there goes that horse. I don’t mess with horses, bro. Straight up. He might come over here and throw a tantrum,” you can hear Berry lamenting in the video on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL.”

“You wouldn’t think this would be a big deal, the guy’s an NFL football player,” says Luke about Berry’s Equinophobia (yes, it’s a real term.)

“I’m straight in the car, he can’t do nothing to the car,” Berry said as teammates and reporters laugh in the background. “But in the open field, you just don’t know what a horse is thinking.”

Berry’s phobia got Dave and Luke talking about their own irrational fears. For Dave, it’s all the electricity going out.

“I wouldn’t say it’s irrational,” Dave says. “As a matter of fact, I’ve got a guy coming out to the house today putting in a transfer switch so when the electricity does go out, I can just flip the switch and the generator goes on.”

And then there’s Dave’s fear of all his money disappearing from his bank account. It’s why he still saves all his ATM receipts.

As for Luke, it’s sharks.

“I don’t like to go past ankle deep in the ocean because I think a shark’s going to get me.”

It might explain why Dave had a shark detector installed in the Ross and Burbank studios.
