How far would you go out on a limb for love?

You have to question a Chicago area cop’s common sense. But give the guy brownie points for bravado for tracking down a woman he ticketed for speeding and leaving a note asking her out on a date.

“It’s Chris … that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you that ticket,” wrote Stickney, Illinois police officer Chris Collins.

“I know this may seem crazy and you’re probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since,” it continues. “I don’t expect a girl as attractive as you to … even go for a guy like me, but I’m taking a shot anyways.”

Ignoring the fact that the cop improperly obtained her address from a state computer and now she’s suing him, it’s a heartwarming tale of unrequited love.

Luke and Dave have their own moving tales of following their hearts.

“I would get in the elevator and there was this incredibly cute girl that would get in the elevator with me some days,” says Luke of his days longing for a woman at an old workplace.

So one day he followed her to her floor to see where she worked, then summoned all of his courage.

“Turns out she was a front desk person in this big open office. There were 20 other people working there and as soon as I walked in she looked at me kind of confused,” Luke recounts.

“I see you in the elevator everyday and I know this is kind of weird but would you ever consider having lunch?” he asked.

She actually said yes, but unfortunately love didn’t blossom.

“We had a very awkward lunch where we talked about the fact we had nothing in common other than I had a crush on her from the elevator.”

Dave shares a similar tale of courage gone awry.

Cornell’s most dashing grad took a fancy to a girl he’d seen on campus and found her in the school’s “pig book (a printed directory of pictures akin to Facebook.)

Dave found her and asked her out, and they agreed to meet at a hockey game.

“We cheer and we yell but the game is never exciting enough to stand up until the very end. She stood and I stood up. She’s about 6’2, and I of course am what I am now- about 5’6 (AND A HALF!) and we sort of looked at each other and without talking we knew we had nothing in common,” Dave laughs.
