Is this the cruelest thing ever?

Mar 20, 2012, 9:14 AM | Updated: Oct 14, 2024, 9:41 am

At first this young husband seems polite introducing the woman to his right as “his beautiful wife Chelsea,” but then he films her for over four minutes stuck on the question: “If you are traveling 80 mph, how long does it take you to travel 80 miles?”

“This thing with its almost 2 million views on YouTube has really touched off a debate which is, is this just good fun, or does this make him the jerkiest husband on the face of the earth? said 97.3 KIRO FM Ross and Burbank host Luke Burbank in a discussion of the viral video. “He’s clearly making fun of her and he put it on YouTube.”

Co-host Dave Ross said it’s one thing to engage in this type of thing in private, but he said posting it to YouTube is a serious offense.

“It’s fair game to as a couple explore each other’s areas of ignorance, but then to post it on YouTube, that is almost like marital infidelity.”

Both Ross and Burbank did remark that her calculations were actually very close considering what she was using to put it together.

“She got there based on her rate of running a mile, based on her estimation of a tire rotation, she got to 58 minutes,” said Burbank. “She actually isn’t far off considering how flawed her logic is.”

Burbank said he’s curious to here what Chelsea has to say about this episode.

“There are wives, and husbands for that matter, who are kind of self-effacing and don’t take anything too seriously and might just think that’s funny,” said Burbank. “And then there are others where you are sleeping on the couch probably for a period of years.”

What do you think: Is the cruelest thing ever?
