New Obama ad: What would Romney have done about Osama bin Laden?

Apr 27, 2012, 12:19 PM | Updated: Oct 11, 2024, 1:43 pm

A brand new Obama campaign video touts the president’s
decision to go after Osama bin Laden and asks, “what would
Romney have done?”

“In this ad, it’s not just Barack Obama saying, ‘I got
bin Laden.’ He’s saying ‘I got bin Laden and Romney
wouldn’t have,'” said Dave Ross in a discussion of the new
ad on 97
.3 KIRO FM’s Ross and Burbank Show
.

“This seems like Republican policy,” said guest host
Ron Reagan. “Remember George W. Bush six months after
9/11, he wasn’t really thinking about Osama bin Laden
anymore. Not that important Osama bin Laden.”

Ross said maybe six months after 9/11 he wasn’t
thinking about it, “but a month after 9/11 we went to
Afghanistan to get Osama bin Laden.”

“I’m not sure that we really went to Afghanistan to do
that. I think we might have had other interests there,”
said Reagan.

Ross also wonders at what point Romney actually said he
wouldn’t go into Pakistan.

“He uses that quote saying, ‘I wouldn’t go into
Pakistan,’ which Romney probably made before realizing
that Osama bin Laden was in [Pakistan] – Don’t you think
that even if Romney had said such a thing he would have
made an exception if his intelligence chief had come to
him, ‘Mr. President, we know during the campaign we said
you’d never go in, but do you know who is in Pakistan?
It’s Osama bin Laden?”

Do you think Romney would have handled the Osama bin
Laden decision differently?
