Crowds at a Monday night U.S. Olympic men’s basketball exhibition game booed the president and first lady after the couple didn’t smooch when caught on the kiss cam.

Even though Michelle Obama appears to be nodding no in the video. The White House insists the first lady did not know it was a kiss cam until half-time when the couple’s daughters asked why they didn’t kiss.

The president and first lady were granted another opportunity in the second half and the couple happily kissed for cheering crowds.

“This incident was the subject of some high-level conversations on the helicopter en route to Andrews Air Force Base this morning,” deputy press secretary Josh Earnest Earnest said.

“I can tell you based on a very good source that reports that the president was rebuffed are false,” said Ernest.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
