Ross to “anarchists”: “I’m sorry for blaming you. It was really a secretary”

In the wake of this week’s May Day vandalism spree and
clashes with police in downtown Seattle, Ross and Burbank
co-host Dave Ross is issuing an apology to those he blamed
for the trouble.

“I guess if anybody needs to apologize it’s me because I
was implying that most of the ne’er do wells were
anarchists from Oregon. And so far not a single person
from Oregon has been brought up before the court,” Ross
says about the first May Day protesters arrested and
appearing in court this week.

The group includes an ER tech, an art student, a barista
and a 23-year old man who works as a secretary at his
father’s downtown Seattle law firm.

“That’s one hell of an anarchist,” says co-host Luke
Burbank. “That’s exactly the kind of pathetic people we
are dealing with here. I don’t mean the protesters in
general or people fighting for workers rights. I mean
this small number of people who were bashing up
windows who also work as secretaries in their father’s law
firm.”

The secretary is accused of throwing a bottle at an
officer and faces assault and riot charges.

The others are also charged with assault stemming from
confrontations with police during the May Day protests.

“They were trying to take the system down from the
inside…like one day you were going to get that coffee
from that barista but she was going to write something on
that cup that was like ‘revolt now’ and you were going to
see that and your life was going to change,” jokes
Burbank.

“I hope that they throw the book at these people because
they didn’t just fail to make a coherent political point
they ruined something for a bunch of other people,”
Burbank says.

“It makes no sense…this is Seattle where every single
cause gets its time in the sunshine. Do we suppress any
point of view in this city?” responds Ross. “You want to
demonstrate, just fill out the permit. ‘How
can we help you? Which streets can we close for you?'”
