Tom said he learned how to cook from his grandmother and mom, and when kids are ready Tom says to start making cupcakes and cakes with them in the kitchen.

So what if it’s pink? Tom Douglas does not think this is a news story.

Or rather, when his producer Tina, excitedly shared with him the story of a young girl that wanted to change the colors of Hasbro’s Easy Bake Oven, Tom was unimpressed.

A pink EasyBake Oven certainly didn’t stop little Tom Douglas’ budding baking skills. “I feel very good about my manliness today, and I feel very good about doing my share in the kitchen.”

Pink, to a 5, 6, or 7-year-old is gender neutral, said Tom.

Katie O, said she thinks it’s usually the parents that have a problem with the gender specific coloring, and wishes the oven would be offered in a slate grey. “That would look super cool.”

But Tom recommends getting kids to start using the ovens in the family’s kitchen instead. Tom said he learned how to cook from his grandmother and mom, and when kids are ready Tom says to start making cupcakes and cakes with them in the kitchen.

Because, as Katie O put it, if Hasbro needed to fix one thing about their oven, it’s that they need to find a way to make things taste better.

At least Tom could help with that. A few years back one of his recipes was submitted, and accepted into the Easy Bake Oven cookbook: his olive popper recipe.
