A WA Firefighter's Deep Connection to 9/11
Today marks 25 years since the September 11th attacks. For Tukwila firefighter Ryan Carpenter, the memories of that day are still vivid — and over the years, his connection to 9/11 has only deepened.
It started with watching the towers fall on TV as a volunteer firefighter in 2001. A few years later, a chance meeting on a ski gondola in Whistler with a New York firefighter changed everything. That friendship led to his first visit to Ground Zero in 2006, where he looked down into the hole in the ground and up at the hole in the sky.
