Can Ketamine Help Those Dealing with Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms?
Drug overdoses killed an estimated 73-thousand Americans last year. Most of those deaths involved fentanyl. There's a medication that helps people recover from opioid addiction, but many people won't take it. The problem is the withdrawal symptoms.
But a new study shows a surprising fix — a tiny dose of ketamine beforehand.
Dr. Lucinda Grande is the senior author of that research. She is a clinical associate professor of family medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
