From an Arizona Prison to the Spokane Fires

Three fires have incinerated more than 850 homes and buildings in the Spokane area, and the count is still climbing. A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the biggest of them.

He served 10 years in an Arizona prison for killing his father over being asked to do the dishes. A psychological evaluation labeled him medium to high risk to reoffend. He moved to Washington on probation, missed a court-ordered mental health evaluation, and was released from supervision in 2023. He'd been questioned about arson three times in the last year.
