Pierce County Wants $1,100 More by November. No Apology.
Charlie Harger got a letter from the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer this week. So did his neighbors. Voters approved an Auburn school district levy back in November. Somehow, Pierce County mailed out tax statements in February without including the new levy. Six months later, the county wants an extra $1,100 by Nov. 2 — and would like taxpayers to know this is definitely not their fault.
