Seattle's New Pride Gala Aims to Feed Thousands
Seattle-based community health organization Lifelong is teaming up with Seattle Pride to launch its first-ever Pride Gala — a black-tie fundraiser aimed at expanding health and food access for the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
Lifelong CEO James Shackelford joins Seattle's Morning News to talk about the inaugural "evening for equality," the organization's 43-year evolution from the Chicken Soup Brigade, and the urgent need driving this year's effort: a food program waitlist that has grown from 1,000 to 1,600 people in just a few months.
