The Court Killed the Natural Gas Initiative. What Now?
Nearly 2 million Washingtonians voted to protect natural gas in 2024 with Initiative 2066. Last Thursday, the state Supreme Court struck it down — too many subjects in one initiative. If you've got a gas range this morning, nothing changes right now. But three legal protections just disappeared, and your PSE gas bill already carries a Climate Commitment Act charge that's only going up as people leave the system.
