Where Were You? A Newsroom Reflects on 9/11
On the morning of September 11th, 2001, KIRO Newsradio news director Frank Lenzi was a 25-year-old filling in as managing editor at a Portland station for the first time, watching smoke appear on the bank of TVs in the newsroom. Reporter Tim Hohl was home asleep when his phone rang — Frank on the other end — and drove to the station listening to coverage the entire way. Their colleague across the street was watching live alongside the legendary Bob Miller when the second plane hit the South Tower.
