The Washington State Auto Dealers Association recently announced that its Renton-based training facility will be renamed the Vicki Giles Fabré Training Center in honor of retiring Executive Vice President Vicki Giles Fabré.

Fabré has served in the role since 1999, and was the first person of color in the country to lead a state automobile dealer association, according to a news release from the organization.

“Vicki’s contributions to WSADA and the dealer community are immeasurable,” said WSADA President Mike Carroll in the release. “For nearly 27 years, she has been a tireless advocate, trusted adviser, mentor, and visionary leader. Most importantly, she earned the trust and respect of everyone she worked with. Her impact on our association and our industry will be felt for decades to come.”

Under Fabré, the association expanded legislative influence and educational offerings, strengthened services for members, and developed strong dealer franchise protections, persisting through economic uncertainty, changes in technology, and changing consumer expectations, the release said.

With a focus on education, Fabré created WSADA’s ENGAGE Program, which provides networking and leadership opportunities for both new and current dealers and managers, and developed initiatives to provide scholarships to automotive technology students.

Additionally, Fabré championed the creation of the training facility which will now bear her name. It offers job-force development, employee education, industry collaboration, and leadership support.

“Excellence without excuse. That simple philosophy and long-held family motto has guided me throughout my career and has been at the heart of everything I have done personally and professionally,” Fabré said in the release. “Knowing that future generations of dealers, managers, and automotive professionals will pass through the doors of the Vicki Giles Fabré Training Center makes the hard work and personal sacrifices worthwhile.”
