Man of many musical projects and talents, Levi Fuller, hasn’t put out a new release in almost 4 years but these times, my friends, are a changin’. Social Music EP marks the first taste of newish material (it’s a 4 song EP of covers) from Levi and his new band, Levi Fuller & the Library. Presently, Levi is in the lab with his bandmates (Christopher Williams on drums, Jonathan Wooster on bass) feverishly piecing together a new LP for you all which will consist of brand new material that will be, most undoubtedly, awesome.

My favorite song on Social Music EP is a cover of The Foghorns’ “80 Proof”. The song is a somber tale of a man seemingly at the end of his rope, who pleads with his lover to put the bottle down so they can lay together (maybe like they used to) before things get out of hand. And quite frankly, things may already be.

Levi Fuller & the Library play Conor Byrne this Saturday the 28th along with The Foghorns and Yucca Mountain. This is gonna be the coolest show.

Oh! I had the chance to chat with Levi and Jonathan recently about music, books and loving non-digital things. The guys also played some tunes live in-studio.

Listen to that chat here.

Double EP release for The Foghorns, and Levi Fuller & the Library! w/Yucca Mountain -9pm, $7

For feminists, the deaths of Parton and Steinem days apart deliver a double dose of grief

One shaped and delivered the language of feminism. The other rejected the label but showed how feminism can be done: with a microphone dusted in rhinestones, and without apology. Gloria Steinem and Dolly Parton embodied two towering versions of the same idea: that women should know themselves well enough to make their own choices about […]
