Prom Night with Allen Stone

...

My highschool prom consisted of my dad acting as the chauffeur of a rented Lincoln Towncar for myself and my date, dinner at Ray’s Boathouse and dancing in a tiny-ass room at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. In no way did my prom include booze, local soul singer Allen Stone or a Bumbershoot line-up.

Those last three things mentioned are just what is going to make ‘Prom Night with Allen Stone: The Official Bumbershoot 2013 Music Lineup Announcement’ the Best. Prom. Ever. The Crocodile is hosting the prom this May 2nd and 3rd with Allen Stone acting as the house band and on top of that the 2013 Bumbershoot line-up is to be announced as well.

When asked why a prom, Allen Stone has this to say:
“In all honesty…an adult prom simply sounded fun. But the more the idea became a reality, the more I realized that this was a great excuse for my community to get together and celebrate with one another. This isn’t your normal ‘Allen Stone’ show… this is prom… and it’s going to be silly. I want this to be an event for the ages!”

A prom king and queen will be announced each night and the lucky couple will win a 3-Day Platinum Pass to Bumbershoot. Holy hell, this is going to be awesome.

For feminists, the deaths of Parton and Steinem days apart deliver a double dose of grief

One shaped and delivered the language of feminism. The other rejected the label but showed how feminism can be done: with a microphone dusted in rhinestones, and without apology. Gloria Steinem and Dolly Parton embodied two towering versions of the same idea: that women should know themselves well enough to make their own choices about […]
