Seattle gaining first Jollibee location; Molly Moon’s set to expand

Jollibee, a Filipino fast food chain sparsely located in the Pacific Northwest, is opening its first location in Seattle.

Set to be positioned in Seattle’s Rainier Valley, the restaurant is projected to open in the second half of 2024, but the company stated its timeline is “subject to change.” The store is expected to take over the MOD Pizza at the Rainier Valley Square strip mall.

This is the third Jollibee location sprouting up in Washington, as another in Tacoma — located in the Tacoma Mall at 4502 S. Steele Street — is set to open Sunday.

Tukwila has had a Jollibee at Westfield Southcenter Mall since 2010.

There are over 1,500 locations globally in 17 countries.

Jollibee specializes in fried chicken, burgers, spaghetti and Filipino dishes.

On the store’s opening day in Tacoma, the first 100 customers who spend $30 or more, either dining in or ordering to-go, will get a year’s supply of Jollibee’s chicken sandwich, according to Curiocity. On the store’s second day, the first 100 customers get a free Jollibee beanie. On Halloween, the first 100 customers get a free Jollibee tote bag.

Molly Moon’s joining Seattle’s waterfront

Molly Moon’s announced this week that it will be opening a new store on the Seattle waterfront, located on the Washington Street Boat Landing near Pier 50, close to Colman Dock.

Molly Moon’s locations include spots in the Seattle neighborhoods of Wallingford, Capitol Hill, Madrona, Queen Anne. Columbia City and University Village. Stores can also be found in Redmond and Bellevue.

In addition, Edmonds became the home of the chain’s 10th location when it opened in July. As My Edmonds News notes, Molly Moon’s became the first business to officially open in the new Edmonds Main Street Commons complex.

The local ice cream chain first opened in Wallingford in 2008 by founder Molly Moon Neitzel, who’s famous for initiating a charitable approach to business, giving away approximately 10% of the chain’s profits to food banks and other charitable organizations annually, according to their website.

The store will be a part of Seattle’s Waterfront Park — a 20-acre park that has been under construction for nearly four years. The store’s opening day has yet to be determined.
