Lacey Pulls the Curtain Back on Newest — and Largest — Park

The city of Lacey has announced the opening of its newest and largest greenspace.
Greg Cuoio Park is located at 2711 Carpenter Road NE and encompasses 537 acres of forest, wetlands, tributaries, and sensitive habitat areas, according to a press release from the city. The full Greg Cuoio Park is being created in phases. Phase 1A includes three miles of trails, an 18-hole disc-golf path, a nature-themed playground, portable restrooms, and other amenities such as now-accessible picnic tables.
The first phase of the park cost around $6.5 million, with the city securing nearly $1 million in grant funding for the project. Some funding came from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program for Local Parks.
The park was named in honor of former Lacey City Manager Greg Cuoio, who served the city for 24 years. The city expects to host a grand-opening event sometime later this year.
