Lakewood Playhouse has confirmed the theme and lineup of its 88th season.
The 2026-27 slate of shows is applying the theme “Heroic Acts” and will feature seven productions celebrating shared humanity, empathy, courage, and heroism in all forms, according to a press release from the South Sound theater organization.
The season will open with the Sept. 4-20 run of “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
“Heroism doesn’t always wear a cape,” said Joseph C. Walsh, producing artistic director of Lakewood Playhouse, in the release. “Sometimes it looks like survival. Sometimes it’s choosing love in the face of fear, telling the truth when silence feels safer, or daring to imagine a different future. Every production in our 88th season asks us to consider what courage looks like in our own lives, beginning with the extraordinary humanity at the heart of ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman.'”
The full season lineup is as follows:
● “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (Sept. 4–20)
● “The Docent” (Oct. 9–25)
● “Where Blooming Flowers Meet the Sky” (Dec. 4–19)
● “Luchadora!” (Dec. 5–20)
● “Topdog/Underdog” (Feb. 19–March 7, 2027)
● “Savage Saints” (April 16–May 2, 2027)
● “Come from Away” (June 4–20, 2027)
