Andrew “Andy” Maus is stepping down from his position as executive director of the Tacoma Art Museum.

Maus served in the role for the last three years.

“The (Tacoma Art Museum Board of Trustees) is committed to ensuring a thoughtful and orderly leadership transition while continuing to advance the museum’s mission and serve our community,” said Dona Ponepinto, president of the board of trustees, in the press release announcing the news. “TAM will continue to foster a space where art and community come together.”

In the release — which didn’t specify the reason behind Maus’ departure but thanked him for his leadership and commitment — the organization said that its exhibitions, community partnerships, daily operations, and educational programs will continue without interruption. In the coming weeks, the museum’s board plans to update the public on its plans for interim leadership and its process it will embark on to select Maus’ successor.
