Where have you been all my life, Shout Out Louds? How is it that only now, on the cusp of the new year, I discover one of the prettiest songs written. I love you. I know you don’t know me and that’s ok. You don’t need to know me. You don’t need to know that I completely adore Swedish duo The Knife or that I’m adept at making fried egg sandwiches. The only thing you need to know is that your latest single, ‘Blue Ice’, is heartbreaking and spirit lifting all at the same time and that I can’t stop listening to the darn thing.

In other news: Shout Out Louds have released their latest single on a record MADE OF ICE. Here’s a bit about the process from DesignBoom. Watch the video below to see the ice record in action.

Shout Out Louds 4th album OPTICA will be out late February 2013.

For feminists, the deaths of Parton and Steinem days apart deliver a double dose of grief

One shaped and delivered the language of feminism. The other rejected the label but showed how feminism can be done: with a microphone dusted in rhinestones, and without apology. Gloria Steinem and Dolly Parton embodied two towering versions of the same idea: that women should know themselves well enough to make their own choices about […]
