One person was killed and one critically injured in an accident just north of Snohomish on US 2 Thursday morning.
“We had a westbound vehicle cross into the eastbound lanes for a reason we are trying to determine right now, and basically they hit not quite head-on but almost head-on,” State Trooper Keith Leary said of the crash that happened about 6 a.m. at milepost 5 near S.R. 9.
The driver of a black Honda was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where WSP reports they later died. A father and son in the pickup struck by the Honda were transported to a local hospital. The father was subsequently airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.
The man driving the Honda was not the car’s registered owner. A screwdriver was found in the ignition, according to Leary.
Traffic was blocked in both directions for over three hours as crews investigated the crash.
