6 arrested at SPD’s East Precinct on Capitol Hill over weekend

Six people were arrested over the weekend for property damage, pedestrian interference and obstruction outside the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct, officials said.
At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, police said they saw several people via camera vandalizing the outside of the precinct.
The suspected vandals appeared to use chalk and charcoal, drawing graffiti on the outside wall, authorities said. Police said the rain did not take the graffiti off the wall, which now may need to be professionally cleaned.
Four people were arrested and booked into the King County Jail for that damage.
On Saturday evening, police said another group of people came to the precinct and began marking on the wall. Some reportedly used chalk, while others used spray paint.
The group was all dressed in black, which police said made it difficult to identify suspects.
When officers approached the group, they began marching, pulling garbage cans and street signs into the road, officials said. The group was advised not to create road hazards. But as they continued to do so, officers arrested a 26-year-old woman for pedestrian interference, police said.
During a search, police said they found the suspect had three cans of spray paint.
Police said a second person was arrested after they tried to block an officer’s patrol car from leaving the area, even striking the vehicle with their hand.
The 23-year old initially ran from officers, authorities said.
Both the woman and the man were booked into the King County Jail for investigation of pedestrian interference and obstruction.
