A large brush fire burns along Interstate 5 in Kent, just south of State Route 516 on Tuesday.
Two northbound lanes are blocked as crews work to extinguish the flames. Washington State Department of Transportation advises drivers to find alternate routes are prepare for long delays.
At one point, the backup was eight miles long.
KIRO Radio traffic reporter Tracy Taylor says the southbound lanes are also backed up. She says drivers should consider SR 167, Military Road, and West Valley Road. An earlier crash on SB SR 509 is blocking the off-ramp to S. 188th and also putting extra pressure on surrounding roads. Get the latest traffic updates.
