911 outage throughout Western Washington

Update: Comcast was able to remedy its phone service outage, restoring access to 911. The outage lasted for about an hour and a half.

Some telephone customers in Western Washington, Spokane and parts of Oregon lost access to calling 911 Friday afternoon — a line depended upon to call for emergency services.
Washington Emergency Management reports that Comcast had an outage on its phone system, affecting a range of Washington counties, Including: King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Island, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Skagit, Spokane, Stevens, Thurston and Whatcom.
Emergency 911 call centers that use Comcast for phone service are included in this outage, and therefore cannot receive calls. King County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that its 911 service has not been interrupted.
Residential customers who use Comcast for phone service are also experiencing disruptions. They are encouraged to use a cell phone to call for emergency services.
