Airlines saw planes temporarily grounded early Monday morning, after a central system computer outage. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, “several” airlines experienced problems with software called AeroData. Essentially, AeroData provides weight and balance data than allows clearance for takeoff.
Southwest Airlines flights were grounded by the outage for roughly 40 minutes, before reporting a resolution around 4:15 a.m. PDT. Delta Airlines noted on Twitter that no cancellations are expected, while American Airlines reported that the issue had been resolved for them shortly after 5 a.m.
The FAA reported that the outage across all airlines was resolved around 5:30 a.m., asking that passengers contact their respective airlines for word on flight delays.
