Alleged serial rapist pleads not guilty

The Seattle attorney accused of being a serial rapist pleaded not guilty to all of the charges filed against him Tuesday morning.
Danford Grant, 47, is facing three counts of rape in the first degree, one count of rape in the second degree, one count of attempted rape and one count of burglary. Grant’s attorney entered pleas of not guilty on his behalf.
There was no discussion of bail at the arraignment. Grant is currently being held at the King County Detention Center in lieu of $3 million bail. After the hearing, Grant was escorted in handcuffs back to the jail.
While police in Bellevue and Seattle have said they are looking into the possibility there may be more victims, Grant is accused of attacking four massage therapists over the last few months.
He was arrested on Sept. 24 near a Seattle massage clinic where an employee told police he had raped her twice. Another employee told police Grant had tried to rape her in July, but he got scared and ran off.
Police say they also suspect Grant of raping women in Shoreline and Bellevue. All of the alleged victims are Asian women who perform massage for a living.
