Amazon is now using astrology to help customers make shopping decisions

Amazon Prime has really taken the “You may also like” feature to new heights, by incorporating astrology to help people make their shopping decisions. Now, if you can’t decide whether or not to buy that comforter, the stars can be your guide.

The Prime newsletter has been sending monthly horoscopes to members that recommends what products and services to buy based on their zodiac sign, reports Fast Company.

For instance, Aries is told that “Your psychic and intuitive powers are in overdrive this month,” and that the best solution is to sit back and relax, “perhaps on a comfy new sofa, wrapped in a cozy new blankie from Amazon Home.” Aries could not be reached for comment.

This could all be a joke, of course, but the Prime horoscopes are in their third month and are written in a somewhat straight tone that makes them appear sincere. It really does seem like Amazon is simply trying to reach a new demographic; in this case, people who take astrology seriously.

Fast Company reports that Americans spent $2.2 billion on “mystical services” in 2018.

Are you a Cancer? Well the Prime horoscope suggests that “the world will seem wider — and friendlier — than it has for a long time,” and that people should keep their “immune system strong and skin supple with Amazon Elements and Amazon’s new skincare line Belei as you meet new people and embark on new adventures.”

What Cancers and Aries do with the above advice remains to be seen, but regardless, it looks as if the sky is certainly not the limit for Amazon in finding new ways to sell people things. Now they just need to break into the lucrative fortune cookie market.
