All lanes of I-5 north near Arlington back open after closing due to brush fires

All lanes of I-5 north near Arlington are back open after being fully closed due to at least three brush fires, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported Monday via X.

The freeway closed at State Route 531, near milepost 208, at King-Thompason Road, around 2 p.m. WSDOT reported backups spanning more than 7 miles into Marysville.

“Use extreme caution and expect delays in this area,” WSDOT wrote.


The Washington State Patrol and fire crews were at the scene.

“Obey all detour and closure signs and expect delays in this area,” WSDOT wrote on X.

Smokey Point Rest Area near Arlington back open

WSDOT reported that the I-5 north Smokey Point Rest Area is back open.

“Expect delays in the area while crews work,” WSDOT wrote on X.
