Seattle Police say a man beat a University of Washington student with a metal socket wrench because “he touched my girl.”
A witness told police he came upon the attack in the 4200 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast Tuesday afternoon around 3:10 p.m.
Witnesses told police the two men followed the victim into an alley following an argument, where they threw him onto the hood of a parked car, with one of them repeatedly hitting him with the wrench.
One of the assailants told the witness the victim “touched my girl,” before fleeing the scene, according to a police report.
The victim refused to cooperate with police, only saying he and the attacker, a visiting student from Michigan, both knew the same girl.
Since the victim would not answer questions about the attack, the officer had little recourse except to advise him not to seek revenge.
A friend of the victim later called police with the attacker’s name and phone number. But he refused to provide any additional information. The victim was examined at an undisclosed local hospital but his condition was unknown, according to the report.
