Bank robbery suspect shot in Stanwood

A suspect in an armed bank robbery in Stanwood was shot Tuesday morning.
The robbery occurred at a Key Bank on 72nd Avenue NW. The suspect was shot in a Haggen’s parking lot, although Officer Aaron Snell with the Everett Police Department, says they are not sure who fired first or whether the suspect even fired at all.
“There were no employees that were hurt, no other police officers that were hurt and, of course, there are no outstanding suspects,” says Snell.
The suspect was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Some witnesses are reporting the suspect had a bicycle, but Snell says they do not know yet whether this robbery is related to the “Tour de Banks Robber” cases.
“A lot of the citizens up here are cognitive that there have been other bank robberies that have been going on up here, so they’re looking for those types of things,” Snell says.
The F.B.I. says the “Tour de Banks Robber” has hit at least eight times over the past year in King and Snohomish Counties.
Snell says detectives are looking into the possibility that Tuesday’s robbery was related. At this point, they do not have any evidence to indicate that it was.
