Bellevue CEO charged with running down boy, threatening him with ax

The CEO of Bellevue-based Hebert Research is facing felony charges for allegedly running down a boy with his SUV and threatening him with an ax.
Police say the boy was riding his ATV in Kittitas County last summer when he mistakenly drove onto James Hebert’s wooded property.
The boy says Hebert drove at him in his SUV, and when he tried to ride away, the 63-year-old man hit him from behind, throwing the boy off the ATV and breaking his shoulder.
The boy says Hebert got out of his SUV with an ax and threatened to kill him and anyone else who came on his property.
Hebert gave police a much different version of events, but the Seattle Times reports the evidence supports the boy.
Hebert is facing reckless endangerment and felony harassment charges. He is expected back in court next week and his trial is scheduled for May.
His 35-year-old market research firm has worked with government agencies, non-profits and Fortune 500 companies. Hebert is also involved with the University of Washington’s Bothell campus.
