A little rain in the forecast this weekend isn’t stopping road crews from trying to get some work done. That could mean a slow weekend drive if you’re heading into Seattle.
“The Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed for its semi-annual maintenance from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 6 a.m. to noon on Sunday,” says Mike Allende with the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Allende says WSDOT crews will also be conducting night-time closures of parts of Southbound I-5 in the University District along with ramps connecting the West Seattle Bridge to the freeway.
Plenty of people will be driving into the city this weekend too. Emerald City Comicon will draw thousands at the Washington State Convention Center, Hot Chocolate 5K participants will be running downtown, and the Sounders will host the Montreal Impact in their home opener at CenturyLink Field.
