Newly released body camera footage showed the early stages of the Spokane Complex wildfires and police’s early response to those fires.
The video released by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office shows the fire’s early start on Aug. 1 around 1 p.m.
It shows officers getting to what was the beginning of the brush fire that would become the devastating wildfires, and going door-to-door and stopping people in public to get evacuations going.
The body cam footage can be seen here.
As of last week, the fires have collectively burned almost 10,000 acres and forced more than 67,000 people from their homes. An estimated 833 buildings have been destroyed.
