Body found on railroad tracks in South Seattle

A train engineer spotted a female body on the tracks early Tuesday morning and called 911.

Officers arrived to the scene in the 3500 Block of 5th Avenue South and determined the woman was deceased, but it did not appear she had been struck by a train.

Detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit are investigating.

Train service along that section of the tracks was suspended while the scene was being processed.
