Boeing already uses suppliers from outside the U.S. to help build its planes, now it’s encouraging those suppliers to look outside the U.S. for their manufacturing plants.
Boeing is encouraging its suppliers to attend a meeting in Chicago next month that will focus on how to set up manufacturing bases south of the border.
The Seattle Times reports Boeing is actively encouraging those suppliers to look to Mexico because of its cheap labor force and lower costs.
The seminar is being put on by American Industries Group, which has helped 200 corporations get up and running in Mexico.
Boeing said it’s not telling its suppliers to send work to Mexico. It’s only letting its suppliers know about the opportunities there and that they can learn more at this meeting.
