Kohberger took selfie hours after Idaho murders, victim’s father claims it was a ‘trophy’

Forty new court filings released Wednesday uncovered several revelations about Bryan Kohberger — the man charged with four counts of murder for the deaths of four University of Idaho students.

Kohberger ordered a knife from Amazon

Prosecutors revealed Kohberger purchased a Ka-Bar military knife on Amazon after searching through his click history. The knife was similar to the one used in the Idaho murders, according to investigators who found a Ka-Bar military knife sheath under one of the victims. The small DNA sample on the sheath helped narrow their search and made Kohberger a prime suspect.

Prosecutors also discovered Kohberger took a selfie, seen above, just hours after the killings. The selfie was allegedly taken on November 13, 2022 at 10:31 a.m. The photograph shows his eyebrows, potentially matching a surviving housemate’s description of the suspect. The housemate described the person as a tall, masked man with “bushy eyebrows” who walked past her on the night of the murders.

Kohberger’s defense team is arguing that the witness was unreliable because she had been drinking that night, according to FOX 13, and that “bushy eyebrows” is not a description in itself to count as evidence.

A father of one of the victims claimed the photo was a “trophy” for the slayings.

“I see somebody that was there making himself a trophy,” the father told “Fox & Friends” regarding the selfie.

Kohberger’s next scheduled court appearance is April 9 for another motion hearing, with the trial expected to begin in August. Kohberger is accused of stabbing Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves to death on November 13, 2022. Their bodies were found in their shared apartment in Moscow.
