Co-owner of Seattle pot dispensary sentenced 3.5 years

Apr 12, 2013, 5:33 PM | Updated: 6:04 pm

The co-owner of a Seattle marijuana dispensary federal authorities raided in 2011 has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison, and she’s expected to be deported after she serves her time.

Jing Jing Mo, 32, co-owned Seattle Cannabis Cooperative with her partner, Craig Dieffenbach. They admitted selling marijuana for profit under the guise of running a medical marijuana dispensary. Dieffenbach was previously sentenced to six years.

“(Mo) admitted offering to sell 25 pounds of marijuana for distribution to others across the country,” explained Emily Langlie with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle.

She suggested the informant buy lousy weed, under the theory that Midwestern pot smokers wouldn’t know the difference.

“This case was about greed,” said Langlie. “It was not about providing medical marijuana to people who needed it under the state medical marijuana law that is small ounce size quantities,” said Langlie.

Mo is a citizen of Singapore and will likely be deported.
