Pair of small earthquakes shake near White Center on Tuesday

Seismologists say a pair of small earthquakes struck in the White Center area south of Seattle early Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the first of the two quakes was measured at 2.2 magnitude in the Highline/Boulevard Park area shortly before noon. The second hit roughly an hour later, coming in at 2.8 magnitude with a depth of nearly 18 miles.

A cluster of smaller quakes measuring between 1.0 and 2.0 in magnitude were also tracked over the last four days in the same area.

Generally, incidents like this one with more depth tend to be less severe than more shallow earthquakes.
