The State Patrol says two drivers who hit and killed a man who stepped into traffic in South Seattle couldn’t avoid the accident.
It happened Monday night on SR-99 in the northbound lanes just south of the 1st Avenue Bridge.
“Basically witnesses are telling us that it appeared as if the gentleman stepped into traffic for unknown reasons and the vehicles just couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting him,” said WSP trooper Julie Judson.
Judson said there doesn’t appear to be any wrongdoing. The man, who appeared to be in his 70’s, died at the scene. Officials have not released his name.
The crash investigation closed all the northbound lanes of SR-99 for several hours.
