All lanes reopened on SB I-5 in Everett following collision

The three left lanes of southbound I-5 just south of SR 526 in Everett were blocked for hours early Thursday morning, following a collision. All lanes were reopened close shortly before 8 a.m.

WSDOT initially said to expect an “extended lane closure.” The ensuing backup extended seven miles at its peak.

KIRO Radio Traffic Reporter Tracy Taylor noted that alternate routes in the area were “jammed up,” as well.

The collision occurred shortly before 4 a.m.
