The Point Defiance-Tahlequah ferry line has been suspended as of Saturday night after its captain had a medical emergency while the ferry was docked.
Service between Tacoma and Vashon Island was disrupted.
The captain collapsed and hit a control panel as he fell, which caused the boat to lurch forward and damage the dock.
We’re told crew members were able to quickly control the boat. They used a defibrillator on the captain before he was taken to the hospital.
The captain is expected to survive, officials said Sunday.
The Point Defiance-Tahlequah line is suspended until the dock can be repaired. The captain’s absence could cause some delays and cancellations throughout the ferry system.
Passengers are asked to use the service between either Southworth in Kitsap County or Fauntleroy in West Seattle.
